CRAFTED BY HAND
Whittle People are custom woodcarvings handcrafted by Andrew Finanger. Each piece is unique and carries lots of personality. These carvings make perfect gifts, wedding features, and center pieces on the shelf. Whittle People are made out of Basswood. Each piece is whittled to detail, painted to perfection, and finished with a shiny coat of wax.
Want one for yourself? Anything is possible. Plan your next piece in the section below with a request. Include a photo or two. Remember, each piece is customized and unforgettable.
BEHIND THE CRAFTSMAN
When you want to be good at something, learn from the best. Finanger started woodcarving in January 2011. His interest was ignited with a college art class called “Scandinavian Fine Handcrafts,” taught by Harley Refsal, an internationally-recognized woodcarver and retired-professor at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
After taking the four week intro class, Finanger continued to be mentored by Refsal and practice turning a regular piece of wood into Whittle People, beautiful spoons, relief carvings, and a variety of other woodcarving projects.
“This is a skill and a trade that I’m grateful for inheriting. I love making handcrafted gifts that last will a lifetime.” – Andrew Finanger
